The team at Pharicode is full of passionate, skilled, and enthusiastic developers, architects, and engineers. If there is one thing that we all have in common, it is our love for IT and business process improvement, especially for our federal clients.
The “Pharicode Feature” is a blog series that will give you an inside look at the work and lives of the consultants at Pharicode. Our consultants will share their stories with you and lead you down the path that brought them to where they are today. Let’s dive in!
This “Pharicode Feature” spotlights Michael Burney, a Service Delivery Manager and ServiceNow Developer at Pharicode, based out of San Antonio, TX.
How were you first introduced to the IT world? What was your first IT-related job?
Michael: I was first introduced to the IT world by computer networking! I would play with routers and switches (by playing I mean destroying) and setting up Token Ring environments. This was all very fascinating to me so I went to school for a formal education related to IT.
Can you give us a little more detail? What other jobs have you had working with ServiceNow/Azure/etc.?
Michael: I started off as an intern for a school as the Network Administrator for two years. Then I discovered the ServiceNow industry while I was working at Accenture Federal. From those experiences, I discovered the incredible team at Pharicode and I have not looked back since.
What are your top skills, certifications, interests?
Michael: I'm very interested in what ITOM brings to the table but I am even more interested in how our customers are positively impacted after an implementation. There is so much room for improvement in a lot of existing companies. Every single process is done via paperwork and I feel like making those processes more efficient and automated can really modernize an organization.
What are your plans for the future of your career in this industry?
Michael: I want to become a subject matter expert on the entire ServiceNow platform. There is too much to learn nowadays so it’s a constantly exciting and challenging journey in this ecosystem. Working at Pharicode is truly amazing! I seriously have not been around this many passionate employees that actually enjoy bringing value to their company!
Outside of work, what are some of your interests?
Michael: Cars, computers, and working out are some of my main passions. The majority of my time is spent researching cars, scoping out PC builds and parts, or working out and running.
